BMI Calculator
The BMI, or body mass index, while not a direct measure of your amount of fat, has been shown to be the best indicator of how much body fat you have. Higher levels of the BMI have been shown to be a indicator of your risk of heart disease, and of contracting type 2 diabetes. In general, BMI readings are:
- Underweight 19
- Normal Weight 19 to 24.9
- Overweight 25 to 29.9
- Obese 30 or more
Also note that this measure of BMI is not intended for children under 16. While the calculations are the same, there is a different chart and different ranges for acceptable levels of fat in children.
